The christening of Sarah DODD in Bishopstoke in 1776 as d/o Richard DODD is transcribed as Sally, an alternative name for Sarah. Normal naming conventions at the time were Paternal Grandfather (Reuben) followed by Maternal Grandfather (Richard), which would confirm the Sally DODD as Sarah. The burial of a Reuben BENHAM in 1800 in Durley could either be a mistranscription of Richard as Reuben or that there is an earlier child (between 1794 and 1797) called Reuben. I am assuming the latter based on timings and normal naming conventions. It is interesting to note that this Durley family christened the child named for the Maternal Grandfather in his town (Bishopstoke). I need to check the details of the original records. There is no record of a christenng for Reuben BENHAM.
