Transcript of the Will of John HASSET {written 13 Apr 1831: proved 9 Oct 1832}

In the Name of God Amen
I JOHN HASSET of the parish of Walcot in the County of Somerset, Stay Maker, being of sound mind memory and understanding do this 13th day of April in the year of Our Lord 1831 make and publish this my last Will and testament in manner and form following. First I desire to be decently interred at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named. I give and bequeath unto my wife ELIZABETH HASSET the whole of my Household Furniture Linen wearing apparel Plate Books together with all my Book-debts ready-money and all my goods and chattels of every description whatsoever and wheresoever for her natural life. My funeral expenses to be paid and discharged by my wife ELIZABETH HASSET To whom I also give and bequeath the whole of the profits arising from my trade and to be in full possession of the whole of the trade for herself and the remaining part of my younger children and at the decease of my wife ELIZABETH HASSET I desire and enjoin that all the aforesaid goods and chattels of every sort be equally divided amongst my then surviving children. And lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said ELIZABETH HASSET my Wife Sole executrix of this my last Will and testament. In Witness whereof I the said JOHN HASSET do set and subscribe my hand and seal the Day and Year first above written.
JOHN HASSET - Signed sealed published and declared by the Testator JOHN HASSET in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of us all and each other have Subscribed our names as Witness thereof - JOHN HOWELL - HENRY SMITH - EMMA M BUTLER.

DIOCESE of BATH and WELLS

In the Goods of JOHN HASSET deceased In the Consistorial Episcopal Court of Wells
October 9th 1832

Appeared personally ELIZABETH HASSET of No. 5 Quiet Street in the Parish of Walcot, Bath, Widow, the sole Executrix named in the last Will and Testament of the said JOHN HASSET late of the Parish of Walcot aforesaid Stay Maker who died on the Twelfth day of October 1831 and made Oath and said that the Personal Estate and Effects of the said Deceased, for or in respect of which a Probate of the said Will is to be granted by the said Court, exclusive of what the Deceased may have been possessed of or intitled to as a Trustee for any other Person or Persons, and not beneficially, and without deducting anything on account of the Debts due and owing from the Deceased, are under the value of One Hundred Pounds to the best of this Deponents knowledge, information and belief. And this Deponent lastly made Oath and said that the said Deceased was not at the time of his death possessed of or intitled to any Leasehold Estate or Estates for Years, either absolute or determinable on a Life or Lives to the best of her knowledge, information and belief.
